The production and the musical diffusion

In 2003 there has been the idea to create and promote the Neapolis Ensemble, group composed by six good musicians, that plays with sophistication and classy some very important genres of the Neapolitan tradition, like the villanelles, the tarantellas and the eighteen-century works. The Neapolis has debuted with enormous success at the Festival International de Musique de Saint-Michel-en-Thiérache, France; the group has already planned to realize a series of records from 16° to 18° century with an important record label and a series of concerts in several prestigious theatres and festivals, in Italy, France, Belgium, Uruguay, Estonia. This groups, obviously, it's already an interesting reality into the international stage and we believe it is the one who better represents the Neapolitan musical tradition abroad.

Besides the Neapolis Ensemble, the Anima & Corde ensemble, focused around the figure of Stefano Di Fraia, and presented with incredible success in France the last 27th June. This group also represents an important reference point for the programmers who are looking for a good musical expression in Naples. This group, in fact, mixes in such a simple and fascinating
way the baroque repertory and the popular Neapolitan tradition of the 1600.

There's suspense for the next production which will debut at the beginning of 2005 in France. We are talking about Pompei Mysterium, where Stefano Di Fraia will be the protagonist again. This new show will keep distance from the classical music and will represent the sacred musical tradition of southern Italy. Stefano will be accompanied by five musicians, who come from the jazz world and also from the ethnic music. They play a lot of instruments: saxophone, clarinet, cromorne, timpani, bass drum, gong, cymbals, mandola, classic guitar, cello and many others. The concert will be presented 7th January at the Odyssée in Périgueux, the day after at the Cultural Centre in Limoges.

MusicaEtcetera has immediately abandoned the idea to put on a massive orchestra: we are sure that a groups composed by four or six elements can transmit the same emotions of a complete orchestra. The only purpose we've got is to put together artists who can play and sing at the best every kind of music: popular, modern, baroque, jazz. From our experience, we realized that the only distinction that the public does is between good music and bad music. MusicaEtcetera will promote every year a new ensemble.
